History

Robert's Mechanical Services was established in 1989 by owner and operator, Robert Barbo. Robert's vision was to provide highly qualified, technically experienced and specialized services to his clients. Robert began by providing local industries with general contract maintenance. Eventually the demand from the industry and Robert's experience allowed for the expansion of the various industries Robert was able to provide services for. Over the years, RMS has become a fully equipped service company that is able to provide on site maintenance and repairs to it's clients. Today, RMS is a leader in the field service industry providing support to numerous companies including the Oil and Gas, Petro-Chemical, Pulp and Paper and Power Generation Industries. RMS continues to exceed client expectations with attention to quality in a safe and efficient working environment.

Biographies

Robert Barbo

Robert started his apprenticeship at N.A.I.T. in 1969 in the steel-mill industry. He spent seven years working at Western Canada Steel in Calgary, Alberta as a maintenance millwright. In 1976, he joined Cominco Fertilizer Operations (Agrium) and was involved in the construction, commissioning and day to day operations of the plant. His on site experiences include general plant maintenance, shut-down coordinator and plant supervisor. In 1989, Robert founded RMS and has owned and operated his business in the Calgary area; he then expanded his services across Canada and overseas. He continues to provide his expertise to the mechanical field service industry.

Daniel Barbo

Daniel received his Petroleum Engineering degree from S.A.I.T. in 1991 and started his apprenticeship in 1992 as a millwright. In 2000, he received a second trade as a Heavy Equipment Technician. Daniel's experience as a technical expert in rotating equipment, including Turbo machinery, has contributed significantly to the growth of RMS. He has been instrumental in the planning and logistics of several local and overseas projects. Daniel has also developed and managed the safety manual for RMS and has achieved industry recognition of a SECOR certificate for his involvement. He is a member of the local millwright apprenticeship committee in Alberta and provides ongoing information to the committee in order to improve the millwright program.
